Here was my advice about how to get GPS lock and then to get distance tracking.
Anyone else got any advice to share?

¡Hola!

Hi
To get distance you must get GPS lock within 100m accurate. This might not happen if:
1. You have GPS disabled on the phone – look in Settings->Connectivity->Location
2. You are indoors, in an area with lots of trees, tall building, radio masts, etc
3. You are unlucky!
Sometimes with GPS watches from Garmin, then you have to leave the watch outside for a few minutes before you start.
Sorry for my Spanish! I learnt 5 years ago – for a trip to South America – but mainly I know how to ask for beer and a hotel ![]()

Can anyone in the Samsung user community help this guy – he’s getting zero distance on both apps – so looks like his GPS simply isn’t working?

If the GPS always says “WEAK”, then the distance is always going to say 0.0km – and if it says 0.0km on the phone, then it will say 0.0km on the site.
You need to fix the problem on the phone – posting videos of the site won’t help you!
One question – I suppose you did actually say “Oui” when the phone asked you to let the app see your location? I assume you did, but just checking…
To use the app, you need to get and keep a strong GPS lock in order to measure distance (better than 100m accuracy). That applies whether you use a Garmin, a TomTom or a Bada phone.
You’re not running with the phone in some sort of lead-clad holder, are you? Try getting GPS state to “OK” -green, then try taking a short (200m) walk with the GPS staying green. If you can do that, then you will get distance recorded.
If you can’t get lock with any GPS app, then it sounds like this is a problem with your phone and its setup. If it occurs for all GPS apps, then the best anyone can suggest is that you talk to Samsung support – they might be able to help you.

One more thought – maybe try an app like http://www.samsungapps.com/topApps/topAppsDetail.as?productId=G00000083277&listYN=Y – if you can get this app to give you GPS accuracy <100m, then all the other apps can follow.

I’ve contacted Samsung support.
They ask:
“This new problem seems to be a bit strange to us. Do you have any idea, from where those people has purchased the Wave 8500 phones? From the market? Please try to collect that information and share with us. Meanwhile, we will be checking the issue here and will get back to you asap.”
If anyone is seeing the problem and wants to help, then please post your stats here
- where did you get your Wave?
- what carrier are you on?
- do you have a data connection?
- what version of th Bada OS are your running?
- anything else you can think of

I think it’s more an internal problem of his own phone more than your app,
My gps works perfectly and also your app!!
Y only wanted to thank you again and also congrat you for your great webpage also where I checked it well last days. I can’t wait to continue uploading routes and comparing/reading my stats
(by the way, I would pay for this app, seriously, you have to consider that!! but it’s a good idea to keep it free to increase community

Josep
