Any Bada Sports Tracker test users – Samsung Wave S8500

I’ve put together an initial Bada app for testing on Samsung Wave S8500 phones.

Currently this app includes:
- a simple diary
- GPS tracking
- data upload to runningfreeonline.com (was runsatuday)

This app doesn’t yet include any mapping (coming soon!)

I’m currently looking for some testers.

If anyone is interested then please:

1. Download this certificate – http://slodge.com/navmi/rootCACert.cer – then copy it to the main memory of your phone and then use the phone’s “My files” app to open this certificate (you can see part of this process here – http://www.careace.net/2010/08/07/run_your_wave_app_on_actualdevice/)

2. Download the test app – http://slodge.com/navmi/runsat.oap – and copy this to the main memory of your phone – then again use “My files” to open this installer.

3. If this works, then you should have a RunningFree app installed – does it work for you?
- if not, then please let me know – I’ll try to help get this working (but this is a very new phone and operating system)
- if it does, then how well does it work? All feedback, good or bad, appreciated.

runsat for iphone

As some of you know, I love my gadgets!

So recently I’ve been playing with iPhones and today I’ve submitted an iPhone app to the app store.

This app doesn’t have the same features as the WM app – but it’s a version 1.0 :)

When it gets approved… then I’ll post more details here, including full support info.

I might also try to get some of the lessons learned back into the WM app – especially making the WM app a bit more user friendly.

runsat 1.1.6 release

A few people have reported issues with “wrong times” being reported by runsat.

This seems to occur only on certain phones.

To work around this, I’ve switched the software over to an alternative timing source within Windows/GPS – hopefully this will produce good results on all phones.

The new release is available now from the download page.


runsat 1.1.5 release

I’ve just uploaded the 1.1.5 release of runsat :)

The main new things in this release are:

  • New language file – Portuguese (Brazil) from Cesar
  • New language file – Russian from KN
  • Changes to the way speed is displayed – hopefully the refresh rate will work better for cyclists now
  • The diary/log now shows average speed as well as distance and time (but the font is a bit smaller as a result!)

Downloading tiles offline

If anyone’s interested in downloading tiles offline – then this tool will let you do that easily on the PC:

Once done, then you can easily copy the folder structure over into the runsat directory on your WM phone.

Finally – months after starting on the process, Runsat is on Windows Mobile Marketplace – you can download it for free there!

Looking for new Speech files – anyone want to be a star?

RunSat (born navmi) carries on getting bigger and better.

And now I’m wondering about adding new speech files.

In particular I’m looking for a new English voice, and I’m looking for new International voices too.

If you want to be considered, then I need wav file recordings of:

One big long wav file will do – I can split it up into individual sound files using the wonderful audacity tool.

I can’t promise I’ll use every file sent to me… and I can’t promise I’ll use every sample within every file – but if you want to have a go… then please do send them in! :)

Any files sent to me must be open as Creative Commons Licensing – don’t expect to get paid, but I can let you download runsat/navmi for free :)


runsat 1.1.2 release

Included in this release:
- include 4 language files – credits for these on the about page to 1bubobubo, Peppi45, SuJaR, and Timmy_01
- “choose course dialog” is not shown if there are no course files there
- “h:m:s” added to localisation
- text size improved for QVGA devices (I hope!)
- FileSaved internationalisation bug – fixed
- Pace/Speed caption the wrong way around – fixed
- GPX Creator – name changed to runsat


Language Files :)

Just 2 days after releasing 1.1.1 I’ve already been sent 3 complete language files for the new runsat build!

These will be included in the next release, but in the meantime if anyone wants them then please download them, unzip them and include them in your runsat directory:

This zip file currently includes Dutch, German, and Spanish.
