runsat for iphone

As some of you know, I love my gadgets!

So recently I’ve been playing with iPhones and today I’ve submitted an iPhone app to the app store.

This app doesn’t have the same features as the WM app – but it’s a version 1.0 :)

When it gets approved… then I’ll post more details here, including full support info.

I might also try to get some of the lessons learned back into the WM app – especially making the WM app a bit more user friendly.

runsat 1.1.6 release

A few people have reported issues with “wrong times” being reported by runsat.

This seems to occur only on certain phones.

To work around this, I’ve switched the software over to an alternative timing source within Windows/GPS – hopefully this will produce good results on all phones.

The new release is available now from the download page.


runsat 1.1.5 release

I’ve just uploaded the 1.1.5 release of runsat :)

The main new things in this release are:

  • New language file – Portuguese (Brazil) from Cesar
  • New language file – Russian from KN
  • Changes to the way speed is displayed – hopefully the refresh rate will work better for cyclists now
  • The diary/log now shows average speed as well as distance and time (but the font is a bit smaller as a result!)

Downloading tiles offline

If anyone’s interested in downloading tiles offline – then this tool will let you do that easily on the PC:

Once done, then you can easily copy the folder structure over into the runsat directory on your WM phone.

Finally – months after starting on the process, Runsat is on Windows Mobile Marketplace – you can download it for free there!

Looking for new Speech files – anyone want to be a star?

RunSat (born navmi) carries on getting bigger and better.

And now I’m wondering about adding new speech files.

In particular I’m looking for a new English voice, and I’m looking for new International voices too.

If you want to be considered, then I need wav file recordings of:

One big long wav file will do – I can split it up into individual sound files using the wonderful audacity tool.

I can’t promise I’ll use every file sent to me… and I can’t promise I’ll use every sample within every file – but if you want to have a go… then please do send them in! :)

Any files sent to me must be open as Creative Commons Licensing – don’t expect to get paid, but I can let you download runsat/navmi for free :)


runsat 1.1.2 release

Included in this release:
- include 4 language files – credits for these on the about page to 1bubobubo, Peppi45, SuJaR, and Timmy_01
- “choose course dialog” is not shown if there are no course files there
- “h:m:s” added to localisation
- text size improved for QVGA devices (I hope!)
- FileSaved internationalisation bug – fixed
- Pace/Speed caption the wrong way around – fixed
- GPX Creator – name changed to runsat


New Release – and a new name!

After a brief pause…. there’s a new release :)

Currently this release is Beta – there are a few major changes and I want feedback on how these work!

The changes are:

Major:
- changes to the GPS processing:
—- Samples are now checked for horizontal accuracy (default is that 50m accuracy is required)
—- Smoothing has been removed
—- Speed is now calculated on the raw data
- changes to the charting – as I said this was done by a separate developer – he’s added some background numbers and some options to change the display and the zoom…
- the name! runsat rather than navmi – more changes still needed here!

Minor:
- additions to GPX files – speed (Metres Per Second as per GPX spec) – as per requests
- additions to KML files – some lap waypoints, some summary information – as per requests
- change of the “pause” button – so it’s a bit more distinctive when pressed
There’s also an example language file (English) at http://www.runsaturday.com/runsat/release/example.lang.xml – I’ve already got an offer for German – will see what else comes along and will include these in future releases. To use this, you need to edit the contents, rename it to e.g. klingon.lang (not with “.xml”) and then place it in the runsat directory – it will then appear within Settings->Languages

As I said, I’m a bit concerned about some of the major changes at present. They seem to work well for me – but I’d like some more users to test them – just in case other phones or other GPS units work significantly differently.

1.0.4 Released

In the last month we’ve been working on QA – especially on satisfying the requirements for the Microsoft and Samsung app store markets.

The result is 1.0.4.

This release:

  • Addresses a number of small problems found – especially with running builds on devices Internationally
  • Includes new hard button support – now all of your hard buttons should work!
  • Includes some improvements in runsaturday integration

As soon as this QA work is complete, we have some very exciting plans for the next stage :)
